Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Hear platform ("Service") operated by Hear ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Service Description

Hear is a team health analytics platform that connects to your Slack workspace. It analyzes message patterns, sentiment, collaboration signals, and engagement metrics to provide team health dashboards, burnout risk alerts, and contributor recognition insights.

Hear is designed for use by team leads, managers, and People/HR teams. It analyzes aggregated patterns — it is not a surveillance or employee monitoring tool.

2. Account Registration

To use Hear, you must:

  • Create an account using a valid work email or Slack OAuth
  • Be authorized to connect your organization's Slack workspace
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Keep your login credentials secure

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you become aware of unauthorized use, contact us immediately at support@hear.dev.

3. Free Tier and Subscription

Free Tier

New accounts receive a free tier with access to core features including team health scores, sentiment analysis, and recognition tracking. No credit card is required. The free tier includes weekly syncs. To unlock daily automatic syncs and advanced features, you can upgrade to Pro.

Pro Subscription

The Hear Pro subscription is $49 per month, billed monthly. Pro includes automatic daily syncs and priority support. Pricing is subject to change with 30 days' notice. Current subscribers will be honored at their existing rate for at least 12 months after any price change.

Billing

  • Payments are processed by Stripe
  • Subscriptions renew automatically each billing cycle
  • You can cancel at any time — access continues through the end of your current billing period
  • We do not offer prorated refunds for partial months

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use Hear to monitor, surveil, or discipline individual employees based on their message content
  • Share dashboard access with individuals who are not authorized by your organization
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer the analytics to reconstruct individual messages
  • Use the Service in violation of any applicable law or regulation
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
  • Use the Service to process data from workspaces you do not have authority over
  • Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the Service

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

5. Data Ownership

Your data is yours. Hear does not claim ownership of any data from your Slack workspace or any content you provide.

  • You grant Hear a limited license to process your Slack data solely for the purpose of providing the Service
  • We do not sell your data to third parties
  • We do not use your data to train machine learning models (beyond the in-flight analysis described in our Privacy Policy)
  • Upon account termination, your data is deleted within 30 days

For full details on how we handle data, see our Privacy Policy.

6. Service Availability

We strive to keep Hear available and reliable, but we do not guarantee 100% uptime. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or due to factors beyond our control.

We are not liable for any losses resulting from service interruptions.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Hear is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied
  • We do not warrant that the analytics, scores, or alerts will be perfectly accurate or complete
  • Hear's team health metrics are informational tools, not clinical diagnoses — they should complement, not replace, direct manager-employee communication
  • Our total liability to you for any claims arising from the Service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Hear harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

9. Termination

  • By you — you can cancel your subscription and disconnect your Slack workspace at any time. Access continues through the end of your billing period.
  • By us — we may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if your payment fails after reasonable notice, or if we discontinue the Service with at least 60 days' notice.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. We will delete your data within 30 days unless retention is required by law.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

If you disagree with the changes, you may cancel your account before the new terms take effect.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Hear operates. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.

12. General

  • If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect
  • These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Hear regarding the Service
  • Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver
  • You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our written consent
